The annual #WhitFridaybandcontest will be held in Uppermill, Denshaw, Delph, Lydgate, Lees and the other villages that make up Saddleworth on Friday 25th May 2018.

This is one of the greatest days of the year to be in Saddleworth, The Saddleworth Whit Friday band contests attracts thousands of people to the area and bands travel from all over the world to perform.
The band contest tradition dates back to 1884 and has been called ‘the greatest free show on earth’. Competitions are held in every village in Saddleworth, and over a hundred brass bands race between venues to perform (and have a few pints in-between) the contest runs from around 4pm until 10.30pm and many roads are closed for that time. if you want to move from village to village remember a lot of the normal routes are closed. It might be worth finding a good spot to watch the bands and staying there.
Once all the celebrations are finished you can relax at the hotel, in comfort. We have free parking and free WiFi.
