WALKING AND HIKING
The Pennine Way runs along our boarders, so it is ideal to take a walk or hike. There are also countless stunning countryside walks and trials to explore. We can arrange guided walks from the hotel for both singles and groups, please contact us for all the information. We have linked with Visit Oldham so you can down load a few of these walks. We have ordinance maps available for you use, boots trays and warm room to dry clothes. We offer a warm welcome, with a flask re-fill.

CYCLING
Love cycling? We have beautiful countryside tracks for either a leisurely cycle or if you prefer more of a challenge there are some intense downhill descents. We have linked with Visit Oldham so you can down load a few of these routes. Some of our favourites are Greenfield to Mossley - Pennine Bridleway and Former Railway Line and the Delph Donkey. We have a safe bike storage room for you to keep your bike.

HORSE RIDING

SAILING
If you like sailing, Dovestones Reservoir is the perfect place, set in 100 acres of the Peak District National Park. Just 5 miles away from the hotel they welcome both beginners and experienced sailors from dinghy sailing to power boating. CANAL TRIPS
Take a trip on one of the barge tours along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. You can discover industrial history and nature away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You will pass through scenic villages and some tours pass through the Standedge Tunnel, which is the UK’s longest, highest and deepest tunnel. WILDLIFE AND BIRD WATCHING
We are surrounded by beautiful nature, as our hotel is set in 9 acres full of wildlife and birds. Working with the local environmental agency we are making habitats to encourage more wildlife to make a home with us. Next door to us is Little Owl Farm, which is a rescue home for a variety of animals, from farm animals, donkeys and even owls. You can arrange a visit at: https://www.facebook.com/LittleOwlFarm.
The reservoirs throughout the area also provide valuable wintering and breeding habitat for wildfowl and waders.

SHOOTING CLUBS
There are two local Shooting clubs, Diggle Rifle Range, and Running Hill Clay Pigeon Club which cater for most shooting disciplines. They run tournaments and competitions every weekend. Diggle Rifle Range is the premier long rifle and practical shotgun shooting facility in the North. Offering weekend shoots from 100 to 1000 yards. FAC holding visitors welcome. Running Hill offers a range of layouts changing from bird, teal, rabbit and looping clay targets. Shot guns can be supplied by the club. LITTLE OWL PETTING FARM
Its the perfect way to spend the day with the family, Little Owl Farm has a variety of animals from Ducks, to Donkey's and beautiful Barn Owls. You feed and pet the animals. The also have activity and craft days. All the animal at Little Owl Farm have been rescued, all donations go to a good cause. The Peacock's and chicken's are regulars in the Hotel's beer garden.
